Prof. Dr Ljubisa Stojmirovic Meets with Delegation of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Institute of World Economics and Politics
Prof. Dr Ljubisa Stojmirovic, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society and Deputy Head of the PFG with China, welcomed the guests, highlighting the excellent relations between the two countries evidenced by the exchange of high-tier visits. Serbia considers China a reliable and trusted partner, said Stojmirovic.
The Chinese delegation briefed Stojmirovic on the scope of the institution they are representing and its six sectors boasting over 300 employees. The delegation members stressed that the Institute is very successful and ranks 15th in the world in the field of economics and politics.
The Chinese delegation had many questions about Serbia’s path to Europe, how to intensify cooperation in the fields of science and education and Serbia ongoing problem of “brain drain” and dwindling workforce.
Prof. Dr Ljubisa Stojmirovic said that Serbia’s top foreign policy priorities are EU accession and maintenance of good relations with China and Russia.
He said that cooperation in the field of education is on the rise, stressing that there is a considerable number of Chinese students in Serbia and vice versa. Big Chinese projects offer the opportunity for an expert exchange in a variety of fields such as science, education and medicine. Speaking of the “brain drain” and dwindling workforce, Stojmirovic said that the problem calls for a systemic response. He also mentioned the dwindling birth-rates as another long-standing problem that has been plaguing Serbia for some time now.
Finally, the Chinese delegation expressed interest in deepening cooperation in the fields of science and education and as a reliable partner offered its expertize to Serbia on its path to the European Union.
