PFG with Montenegro Visits Montenegrin Parliament
A delegation of the National Assembly’s Parliamentary Friendship Group with Montenegro comprising: PFG Head and Security Services Control Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic, and MPs Aleksandar Markovic, Jelena Zaric Kovacevic, Dragomir Karic, Zvonimir Djokic, Dejan Radenkovic and Ivan Kostic, paid an official visit to the Parliament of Montenegro on 24 September.
In the course of the visit, PFG Head MA Igor Becic met with the President of the Montenegrin Parliament Ivan Brajovic and discussed advancing parliamentary and overall cooperation with a special focus on the economy. The officials emphasized the importance of support and cooperation in the European integration process and PFG Head Becic said that Montenegro’s experiences and support are very important for Serbia. They praised the two countries’ excellent regional and multilateral cooperation, stressing that regional cooperation and stability remain Serbia’s key foreign policy goals. The talk about the status of Serbs in Montenegro was followed by the Serbian delegation meetings with the President of the Montenegrin Parliament and the Head of the Montenegrin Parliamentary Friendship Group with Serbia Branimir Gvozdenovic, as well as the Chairman of the Montenegrin Parliament’s Security and Defence Committee Obrad Stanisic.
The meetings also touched on advancing cooperation, exchanging ideas and pursuing projects of mutual interest and the officials agreed to work on a protocol of cooperation between the two parliamentary friendship groups and committees, as well as on intensifying political dialogue between the legislative powers across the board in view of the strong, good-neighbourly and friendly relationship between Serbia and Montenegro. They also discussed European integration which is both countries’ foreign policy goal. They broached a number of other topics of importance and came to an agreement to intensify parliamentary cooperation in the coming period and continue working together.
The National Assembly’s Parliamentary Friendship Group with Montenegro also met with the Chairman of the Montenegrin Parliament’s Committee for International Relations and Emigrants Andrija Nikolic.
