MP Dragomir Karic expressed his satisfaction at being given the opportunity to head the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Belarus in the current legislature as well, stressing that the two countries enjoy friendly relations, reflected in the intensive parliamentary cooperation. He emphasised that the two countries have always supported each other throughout history, even in the most difficult times, and that relations are outstanding at all diplomatic levels, making sure to mention the close relations between the presidents of the two countries. He pointed out that Serbia and the Serbian people will forever be grateful to Belarus, as well as Ambassador Brylev who never hesitated to show goodwill towards Serbia. He took the opportunity to thank Belarus for supporting Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, adding that the country is following the situation in Europe very closely and understands the very complicated position of Belarus which borders Ukraine and Russia.

Ambassador Brylev thanked the PFG members for the hospitality and for having responded to the meeting in such large numbers, emphasising that Serbia is a second home for him, considering the many years he has spent in the country on several occasions. He added that the relations between the two countries are at an enviable level in terms of bilateral and economic relations, and that they have been following an upward trajectory despite the pandemic and the Russian military operation in Ukraine. The Ambassador went on to say that Serbia and Ukraine could cooperate more closely in the fields of sports and culture.

The meeting was attended by PFG members Aleksandar Markovic, Momir Stojiljkovic, Borko Puskic, Radmila Vasic, Stasa Stojanovic, Dr Marko Bogdanovic, Zoltan Dani and Djordje Komlenski, who said that they would organise another meeting with the Ambassador to discuss deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest and through exchanges of visits at the parliamentary level.
