PFG with Albania Meets with Albanian Minister of Tourism and Environment

The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Albania, headed by Srbislav Filipovic met today at the National Assembly with the Albanian Minister of Tourism and the Environment Blendi Klosi.

The Head of the PFG Srbislav Filipovic pointed out that Serbs and Albanians are the two most numerous peoples in the Balkans and the stability of the region depends on their good relations and cooperation. It is important to talk about all topics and issues, even those we do not agree on, said Filipovic. He added that stability, economic progress and European integration are Serbia and Albania’s common interests, and expressed confidence that the two peoples can achieve a lot through better acquaintance and cooperation, to which parliamentarians, as the directly elected representatives of the citizens, can contribute a great deal to. Filipovic also said that in the last few years the Serbian citizens had shown great interest in the Albanian coast, adding that an increase in tourist visits and economic cooperation are very important for Serbia.

Albanian Minister of Tourism and the Environment Blendi Klosi said he was very pleased to be able to visit and discuss tourism, which is of great importance for Albania. It is in the interest of both countries to increase tourist visits and exchanges, he said. By boosting the number of tourists, we are creating friendship ambassadors, which in turn increases mutual understanding and the need for cooperation between our two countries, Klosi pointed out.

The meeting was also attended by PFG members Snezana Paunovic, Dragomir Karic, Ugljesa Mrdic and Nenad Mitrovic, as well as the Albanian Ambassador to Serbia Ilir Bocka.

In the conversation, they confirmed the importance of cooperation between Serbia and Albania which parliamentarians can greatly contribute to. They pointed out the importance of tourism and construction of traffic infrastructure to better connect the two nations. The officials especially praised the "Little Schengen" initiative jointly presented by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Prime Minister of North Macedonia Zoran Zaev.
