Ninth Sitting of the European Integration Committee

At the sitting held on 3 August 2023, the members of the European Integration Committee considered the Republic of Serbia’s EU Accession Negotiations in the course of the Swedish presidency (January – June 2023), submitted by the Government.

Presenting the Report, Minister of European Integration Prof. Dr Tanja Miscevic opined that the biggest indicator of Serbia's progress in the negotiation process is the fact that the fulfilment of the transitional criteria for Chapters 23 and 24 is being discussed with the European Commission for the first time. This means the entry into a higher phase of the negotiation process, creation of concrete results, said Miscevic, adding that this opens up the possibility of starting to close negotiation chapters in some areas.

The Minister presented a detailed cross-section of the situation in the negotiation process for the mentioned six-month period, in clusters 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 and in chapters outside the clusters.

Following a discussion, the Committee adopted the Republic of Serbia’s EU Accession Negotiations in the course of the Swedish presidency (January – June 2023), submitted by the Government, by majority vote, and forwarded it to the National Assembly for further consideration and adoption.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Elvira Kovacs, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Milan Radin, Marija Jevdjic, Goran Milic, Draginja Vlk, Rozalia Okresz, Ana Miljanic, Dubravka Filipovski, Dr Jelena Kalajdzic, Nemanja Joksimovic, Prof. Dr Andrija Savic and Robert Kozma.
