Ninth Sitting of the Culture and Information Committee

At the sitting held on 28 November, the members of the Culture and Information Committee established the candidate lists for members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media, and the lists of organisations that together form a single authorised proponent, nominated by universities accredited in the Republic of Serbia, by mutual agreement, and associations dealing with freedom of expression and the protection of children, by mutual agreement.


Committee Chairperson Maja Gojkovic reminded that the Committee had issued a public call to the authorised nominators on 4 November, and that they had been informed to submit a reasoned proposal of two candidates for membership of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media within 15 days.

The authorised nominator universities accredited in the Republic of Serbia had by mutual agreement nominated candidates Prof. Dr Nenad Cekic, Prof. Dr Vladimir Tomasevic, Goran Petrovic and Prof. Dr Dragan Boskovic.

The Committee formulated the list of candidates for member of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media nominated by universities accredited in the Republic of Serbia, by mutual agreement, containing two candidates that meet the requirements of the public competition: Prof. Dr Vladimir Tomasevic and Goran Petrovic.

The Committee also established the list of organisations for member of the Council of the Regulatory Authority nominated by universities accredited in the Republic of Serbia, by mutual agreement, viz. University of Belgrade, University Union – Nikola Tesla and the University of Kragujevac.

The authorised nominator associations dealing with freedom of expression and the protection of children, by mutual agreement, nominated candidates Radoje Kujovic and Radoslav Nikolic for member of the Council of the Regulatory Authority.

The Committee formulated the list of candidates for member of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media nominated by associations dealing with freedom of expression and the protection of children, by mutual agreement, containing the candidates Radoje Kujovic and Radoslav Nikolic, as well as the list of organisations for member of the Council of the Regulatory Authority nominated by associations dealing with freedom of expression and the protection of children, by mutual agreement, containing 52 associations.

The Committee then went on to consider the initiative to adopt an authentic interpretation of the provisions of the Law on Electronic Media, submitted to the Committee by Radio Television Serbia Public Media Institution.

Radio Television Serbia Public Media Institution asked for an authentic interpretation of Article 100, paragraph 9 of the Law on Electronic Media. Since the Culture and Information Committee is not authorised to deal with the request the same has been forwarded to the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues.

The sitting was attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Snezana Paunovic, MA Jadranka Jovanovic, Natasa Mihailovic Vacic, Djordje Vukadinovic, Miletic Mihajlovic, Milorad Haji Stosic, Bojan Torbica, Dr Ana Stevanovic, Mirko Krlic, Vladimir Djuric, Enis Imamovic, Vesna Marjanovic, Marija Obradovic, Srbislav Filipovic and Dragana Kostic.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Maja Gojkovic.
