The Report was presented by Council President Milo Vuksanovic who briefed the Committee members on the Council’s main activities in said period and presented the Platform for further action which is part of the report. The Platform states that the Council should operate in full composition, adding that the status and working conditions of the Council should be resolved at the National Assembly which had established the Council. The Platform also proposes cooperation with the Culture and Information Committee and the Ministry of Culture and Media and recommends the application of the provisions of the Law on Culture and participation in the amendments and modifications to said Law.
The discussion between the members of the Committee and the National Council for Culture and the representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Media focused on how to resolve the status and material position of the Council members, on the Report submitted by the Council and the Council’s duties, as well as the need to amend the Law on Culture. They highlighted the importance of the work of the National Council for Culture and the recommendations adopted by the Council in line with its duties. They also recognised the need to promote the Council’s cooperation with the National Assembly and the Culture and Information Committee.
After the discussion, the Committee adopted the National Council for Culture Activity Report for the period July 2013 – June 2014.
Committee Chairperson Vesna Marjanovic proposed conclusions that the Committee will rule on at the next sitting.
The Committee adopted the proposal of Committee member Vladimir Djukanovic to adopt the decision on the organisation of a public hearing on the implementation of the set of media laws at the next Committee sitting.
