The following agenda was set for the ninth extraordinary sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia convened by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Oliver Dulic, at the request of 124 Members of Parliament:

1. The Proposal of the Decision on the Election of the Governor
of the National Bank of Serbia, submitted by the Finance Committee.

Representative of the submitters, Branislav Jovanovic, stated that the only candidate for the post is the heretofore Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Radovan Jelasic, nominated by the G17 Plus Deputies’ Group. The Finance Committee supported the nomination by a majority of votes and forwarded it to the National Assembly for discussion.

Elaborating the nomination, Branislav Jovanovic listed the data from Governor Jelasic’s Curriculum Vitae.

For the rest of the work day, the National Assembly led a unique discussion on the Proposed Decision on the Election of the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia.

On the second day of the sitting (26 September) the National Assembly concluded the unique discussion of the Proposal of the Decision on the Election of the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia.

After the conclusion of the discussion, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Oliver Dulic designated the Voting Day for later today, after an hour’s break.

At the Voting Day the National Assembly elected Radovan Jelasic as Governor of the National Bank of Serbia with the majority of 132 votes cast in favour.

The president, vice-presidents and members of the Council of the State Audit Institution Radoslav Sretenovic, Ljiljana Nedeljkovic, Zoran Tamas, Ljiljana Dmitrovic-Saponja and Natalija Catovic swore an oath before the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

After the National Assembly concluded the discussion of and came to a decision on the only item on the agenda, Speaker Dulic concluded the Ninth Extraordinary Sitting of the National Assembly in 2007.
