Newly-elected judicial officials take oath of office

Three judges and nine assistant public prosecutors, elected at the Fourth Extraordinary Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2006, today took the oath of office before the National Assembly Chairman, Predrag Markovic.


Three judges and nine assistant public prosecutors, elected at the Fourth Extraordinary Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2006, today took the oath of office before the National Assembly Chairman, Predrag Markovic.

The oath-taking was attended by the Minister of Justice, Zoran Stojkovic, the Presiding Justice of the Supreme Court of Serbia, Vida Petrovic-Skero, and the Republic Public Prosecutor, Slobodan Jankovic.

Congratulating the newly-elected judges and assistant public prosecutors, Mr Markovic re-iterated that many laws had been adopted, but that they also needed to be implemented with a great deal of knowledge, attention, and understanding for all those the laws are meant to protect. Expressing his heartfelt wishes for professional success in the future, Markovic said he was convinced that implementation of laws would ensure stability and high standards, but also solidarity and professional self-respect.

The Minister of Justice, Zoran Stojkovic, also wished the judicial officials success in their work, adding that they were assuming a difficult position within an honest and fair profession.
