National Assembly and Westminster Foundation for Democracy Launch Joint Project

The National Assembly and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) have launched project “Strengthening the legislative and control capacities of the National Assembly”.

For the implementation of said Project the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) has secured the support of the UK Parliament’s House of Commons, Northern Ireland Co-operation Overseas (NICO), Slovak Parliament and non-governmental organisations such as the Centre for Research, Transparency and Accountability (CRTA) and Lawyers’ Committee for Human Rights (YUCOM).

The support shall be aimed at strengthening the National Assembly’s legislative and control capacities, research capacities and human resource management and development at the National Assembly Service.

Between 19 and 22 September Mr. Paul McCallion, Northern Irish human resources expert, worked intensively with the employees of the Human Resource Department on drafting internal acts and procedures from the field of human resources, as well as on the development of programmes for the National Assembly Service managerial staff.

This was the first of many planned meetings with the employees of the National Assembly Service. The Director of the Slovak Parliamentary institute Mr. Lubomir Fajtak and associates are to visit the Assembly in early October so as to share the Slovak Parliament’s research experiences and methods with the employees of the National Assembly Service.
