National Assembly Standing Delegation to PACE at January Session in Strasbourg
The National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will be participating in the first part of the PACE plenary session in Strasbourg, France, from 27 to 31 January 2014.
The January session will be discussing racism, impact of the new information and communication technology on democracy, position of migrants, assisting Syrian refugees, climate change and sustainable development. The MPs requested an urgent debate on the situation in Ukraine and will also be electing a new PACE President.
The MPs will be addressed by Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament, while Austrian Minister for Integration Issues, European and Foreign Affairs Sebastian Kurz will present the traditional Communication from the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers containing the activity plan and answer the MP’s questions.
Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland will also address the Assembly.
