National Assembly Standing Delegation to NATO PA at NATO PA Annual Session in Madrid

Head of the standing delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Vladimir Djukanovic, delegation members MA Dejan Radenkovic, Ugljesa Mrdic, Nebojsa Zelenovic and deputy member Natasa Jovanovic is taking part in NATO PA annual session, held 18-21 November 2022 in Madrid, Kingdom of Spain.

The delegation will attend the meetings of the Political Committee, Defence and Security Committee, Democracy and Security Committee, Economics and Security Committee and the Science and Technology Committee. Gerald E. Connolly, President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, will speak at the plenary session, as will Ander Gil, President of the Spanish Senate, Pedro Sanchez, Prime Minister of Spain, and Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General and Chief of the North Atlantic Alliance. In the course of the plenary session, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will join via video link. The participants will also discuss the Economics and Security Committee’s Report on the Western Balkans by rapporteur Mikal Szczerba.

During the first session of the Political Committee, the head of the Serbian delegation to NATO PA, Vladimir Djukanovic, met with Spanish Foreign Minister, Mr. José Manuel Albares, and said on the occasion:

"I thanked Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares for Spain's consistent position not to recognise the independence of Kosovo-Metohija and because in his presentation and answers before the members of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, he insisted that Kosovo-Metohija cannot be referred to as an independent state."

For all the participants of the session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, the Spanish royal couple, King Felipe and Queen Letizia, arranged a reception in the royal palace during which the members of our delegation met with the king.
