H.E. Ms. Mary Warlick said that she would continue to cooperate with the Serbian Government and Parliament and strive to expand the scope of said cooperation. She endorsed Serbia’s efforts to join the European Union, at the same time emphasising the wish to continue the two countries’ bilateral cooperation in all spheres. She expressed hope that the new Government and Parliament would continue and promote cooperation in the region, and that the dialogue with Pristina would show progress. According to Ambassador Warlick, the United States believe that the new Government would be successful in its struggle against organised crime and make significant progress in the observance of the rule or law.

The Serbian Assembly Speaker, MA Nebojsa Stefanovic, presented some of the aspects and potential for further improvement of cooperation between the two countries to Ambassador Warlick, with a special focus on the projects the US Embassy has so far assisted, among which is the programme of bringing the Assembly’s work closer to the public. Speaker Stefanovic also stressed the readiness to expand cooperation between the two countries within the existing scope, as well as expand the scope of cooperation itself. The Parliament Speaker expressed hope that today’s meeting is just the first in a series of regular contacts between the representatives of the Parliament and the US Embassy.
