National Assembly Speaker Talks to Turkish President

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic talked today to the President of the Republic of Turkey, Abdullah Gul, in official visit to Serbia.



The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic talked today to the President of the Republic of Turkey, Abdullah Gul, in official visit to Serbia.

They discussed furthering bilateral relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Turkey, as well as expanding and improving parliamentary cooperation on all levels.

President Gul stressed that in future, the cooperation between the two countries shall expand not only in the political sphere, but on the cultural, economic and business plane as well.

Assembly Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic stated that the development of economic relations is in the interest of both countries, as well as further work in the sphere of European integration. She briefed President Gul on the National Assembly’s legislative efforts, stressing that the legislative activity is aimed at harmonisation with European and international legislation. She added that the National Assembly passes laws guaranteeing foreign investment in Serbia.

At the end of the meeting, the officials agreed in their estimate that further and more intensive parliamentary cooperation, both between friendship groups which had already launched a cooperation initiative, and on the economic level as well, is in the mutual interest of deepening the traditionally good relations between the two countries.
