The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received today the Assembly Speaker of the Republic of Srpska, Igor Radojicic.

They jointly deemed that the cooperation of the two parliaments is good based on the Agreement on Parliamentary Cooperation between the Republic of Srpska and the Republic of Serbia, signed by the two assembly speakers in Banjaluka on 9 January of this year, but there have been none of the more intensive contacts predicted by the Agreement due to the frequent electoral cycles in the previous period.

The two parliamentary speakers agreed on the need to intensify the cooperation on several levels, from semi-annual meetings of speakers to the exchange of experiences of parliamentarians and joint working bodies of the two assemblies, which should contribute to the more successful functioning of expert services and passing new laws on both sides. Speaker Radojicic stressed the importance of sharing the National Assembly’s experiences for the further development of democratic parliamentary practice in the Republic of Srpska.

Exchanging opinions on the current situation concerning the work of the two parliaments and the development of the political situation in a wider context, both deemed that further strengthening of the cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is welcome.
