On Thursday, 30 October 2008, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received a delegation of the Kosovo-Metohija Community Assembly of Municipalities, headed by the Assembly Speaker, Radovan Nicic, and also including National Assembly deputies from Kosovo.

The delegation members stressed that they had handed in a petition against the deployment of the EULEX mission to the National Assembly, UNMIK and the Russian Embassy, that in Kosovo-Metohija at the moment there is justified fear among the Serbian and non-Albanian population of mass pogroms, which had happened on 12 June 1999 and 17 March 2004.

The Assembly Speaker emphasised the necessity and importance of unity in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia on the Kosovo-Metohija issue, and that the Serbian Assembly is ready for any active solution to the status of the southern Serbian province within its jurisdiction.

Together, they agreed that the solution of the Kosovo-Metohija issue must be based in the guarantees granted by the UN Security Council, that any mission must have a neutral status and that Ahtisaari’s plan must not be implemented, and that is the position held by the RSNA, no matter who makes up the majority or who is its Speaker.
