National Assembly Speaker Talks to Croatian Prime Minister

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received today a delegation of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, headed by Prime Minister Ivo Sanader.



The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received today a delegation of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, headed by Prime Minister Ivo Sanader. The talk focused on the role of the parliaments of the two countries in improving their relations.

Prime Minister Sanader stressed that Croatia is interested in establishing good relations with Serbia because both the neighbouring countries are intensively working towards joining the European Union, and therefore should cooperate more closely on that path. He pointed out the need to intensify political relations on all levels and strengthen economic cooperation.

The National Assembly Speaker stressed that establishing good relations between Serbian and Croatia is a factor of stability in the region and endorsed the initiative to intensify inter-parliamentary cooperation through the cooperation of committees, friendship groups and other modes of communication.
