The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejnaovic received today the members of the Voluntary Blood Donors Association of the Executive Council and Assembly of AP Vojvodina.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejnaovic received today the members of the Voluntary Blood Donors Association of the Executive Council and Assembly of AP Vojvodina. The delegation was headed by the AP Vojvodina Assembly Deputy Speaker in charge of health issues, Dr Branislava Belic.

Welcoming the guests to the National Assembly House, the Speaker Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic stressed that voluntary blood donation is a noble and humane act by which we help someone whose life is in danger. In Serbia, every 100 seconds a blood donor is needed, and Belgrade alone lacks 100 donors every day.

The Speaker of the National Assembly stated that Serbia has established a systematic National Blood Donation Programme realised by the Red Cross Organisation, adding that timely and efficient supply of health institutions and patients with safe blood is an important pre-condition for the functioning of every country’s health system. That is why the number of blood donors is of general public importance, and providing a sufficient quantity of blood represents a national treasure for every country, Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic emphasised.

The guests from Novi Sad were then taken on a tour of the National Assembly House.
