National Assembly Speaker Takes Part in Conference on Aging

Today, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic addressed the organisers and participants of the First Regional Conference on Aging and the Elderly of south-eastern European countries, held in Belgrade on 15 and 16 October.



Today, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic addressed the organisers and participants of the First Regional Conference on Aging and the Elderly of south-eastern European countries, held in Belgrade on 15 and 16 October. The Conference was organised by the Geriatric Clinic KBC Zvezdara with the support of the Faculty of Medicine and Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology of Serbia under the patronage of the Belgrade Secretariat for Health Care.

The National Assembly Speaker applauded the initiative behind the conference that gathered professionals form Belgrade, the Balkan countries, as well as some European countries so they can share experiences and discoveries regarding one of the biggest challenges of contemporary Europe – demographic aging of the population. Djukic-Dejanovic stressed that the issue is being addressed during the International Month of the Elderly to whom we owe a debt of gratitude for all they had done for both the citizens and the prosperity of Serbia.

The National Assembly Speaker stated that society as a whole is obliged to enable the elderly to enjoy the fruit of their labour and that their positive experience should motivate society to care for them.
