National Assembly Speaker Receives World Universities Debating Championship Finalists
The National Assembly Speaker, Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic, received the students of the University of Belgrade Faculty of Political Science, Helena Ivanov and Stefan Siridzanski, who had successfully won a spot in the finals of the recent World Universities Debating Championship in India.
Talking to the participants of the World Universities Debating Championship, the National Assembly Speaker asked about their ambitions and plans for the future. Stefanovic shared his pleasure at the young debaters’ success especially since, he added, debate is the essential part of every session. He stressed that the Assembly is not only a place where laws are passed but also a place to share ideas.
The participants of the World Universities Debating Championship thanked the National Assembly Speaker for the opportunity to talk to him and learn about the parliament’s work. The students said that they believed in a continuous investment into the youth whose development and education are the best investment plan which makes long-term social progress possible.
