National Assembly Speaker Receives Russian Duma’s Federation Council Deputy Chairman

National Assembly Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic received Alexander Torshin, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Duma’s Federation Council, and associates Vera Stepanenko, Chairperson of the Moscow City Duma’s Commission on Environmental Policy, Igor Matveev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Duma’s Federation Council International Relations Department, Andrey Tulaev, A. Torshin’s Deputy Chief-of-Staff, Nina Torshina, founder of the International Humanitarian Foundation Saint Sabbas the Sanctified and wife of Mr. Torshin, Alexander Kozhurin, AD Zarubezhneft Deputy General Director and Vladimir Putyatin, Voice of Russia radio station correspondent.


Alexander Torshin is also the president of the International Humanitarian Foundation Saint Sabbas the Sanctified, whose mission is to protect the Christian sanctities in Kosovo-Metohija. The main goal of the foundation, which was created last year, is to offer expert, financial and organisational assistance to the restoration and preservation of temples, monasteries and Christian cultural monuments.
Talking to the National Assembly Speaker, the representatives of the Federation Council’s delegation conveyed their impressions of the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, as well as of the efforts to preserve the Serbian cultural wealth of Orthodox sanctities, which, said Alexander Torshin, are part of the world cultural heritage.
Speaker Stefanovic thanked the guests for their efforts on the preservation of the Serbian cultural heritage, as well as their support in protecting the Serbian and non-Albanian population from exile. The relations between Serbia and the Russian Federation were jointly deemed to be entering a new era and as for parliamentary cooperation, it should take place in a broader scope.
