National Assembly Speaker Receives Republic of Srpska National Assembly Speaker

Today, at the National Assembly House, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, MA Nebojsa Stefanovic received the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Igor Radojicic.

Addressing the media after the meeting, the parliament speakers of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska declared the cooperation between Serbia and the Republic of Srpska strategically important since “all the institutions and the citizens have a natural wish for cooperation”.

They reminded that the 2008 Cooperation Protocol between the two parliaments sets up various types of interparliamentary cooperation, which still needs to be intensified, particularly that between working bodies and assembly management.

National Assembly Speaker MA Nebojsa Stefanovic suggested stimulating the development of economic relations via parliamentary cooperation, pointing out the great potential for the improvement of cooperation in infrastructure, energy production, agriculture, education and other areas. He also said that parliamentary committees, with the support of the executive and certain companies, could propose specific modes of economic cooperation.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Igor Radojicic agreed with the estimate that cooperation between the two parliaments should be intensified, primarily in the interest of developing economic relations and strengthening business cooperation, reminding that for the Republic of Srpska, Serbia is the most important foreign trade partner.

Radojicic congratulated the Serbian National Assembly Speaker on being elected and invited him to visit Banja Luka in the autumn.

The officials exchanged opinions on the current political situation in Serbia and the Republic of Srpska.
