The Speaker of the National Assembly, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received today the Director General of RTS Public Service, Aleksandar Tijanic and the Editor-in-Chief of the news programme, Nenad Stefanovic, with whom she spoke of the continued cooperation between the National Assembly and RTS, particularly the broadcast of Assembly sessions.

Assembly Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic pointed out that the RTS news programme needs to focus more on other National Assembly activities, such as visits of parliament speakers and exchange of parliamentary delegation visits with other countries. In addition to Assembly sessions, more attention should be paid to the more important committee sittings, roundtables and other events organised at the National Assembly in order to present the Assembly’s work in its entirety.

Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic expressed her belief that by passing the new Rules of Procedure the National Assembly will achieve greater work efficiency.

Aleksandar Tijanic stated that the National Assembly broadcast takes up the most TV hours in Europe, and that the lack of set working hours and schedule results in RTS channel two being under utilized. RTS Director General said that it is necessary to set a schedule of Assembly broadcast a month ahead. According to him, after the Public Service digital broadcasting network is introduced, it would be best to launch a parliamentary programme to broadcast Assembly sessions, the Government’s activities and be entirely dedicated to Serbia’s political life.
