National Assembly Speaker Receives Pakistani Ambassador to Serbia

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, MA Nebojsa Stefanovic, received H.E. Ghulam Farid Farrukh, Pakistani Ambassador to Serbia, at his request.

National Assembly Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic declared the meeting with the Pakistani Ambassador noteworthy considering the existence of stronger and more significant indications of an improvement in the, primarily, economic cooperation between the two countries. Speaker Stefanovic emphasised Serbia’s favourable location and the potentials it offers to partners wishing for a more prominent presence on the European markets.
Regarding the global political situation, Stefanovic mentioned that the complexity of international relations burdens our countries with a heavy load which should be overcome by dialogue and respect of diversity. In that light, he stressed the potential for cultural exchange which would lead to familiarization between the two nations.
H.E. Pakistani Ambassador Ghulam Farid Farrukh stressed Serbia’s specificity and significance in the region, adding that the specificity is reflected in the considerable difficulties it had experienced, and comparing it with the difficulties experienced by Pakistan which is often the victim in the international fight against terrorism as it is the target of terrorist attacks, especially those by suicide bombers.
Ambassador Farrukh stressed that the relations between the two countries have been good since the times of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia which finds its legitimate hair in Serbia, said the Pakistani Ambassador, opining that international treaties signed then should be renewed in accordance with the present times.
Regarding the exchange of parliamentary delegations and overall bilateral cooperation, Speaker Stefanovic expects that the new Foreign Affairs Law, soon to find itself before the Parliament, would simplify procedures and enable closer cooperation between the two parliaments.
