The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the newly-appointed Ukrainian Ambassador to Serbia, Viktor Nedopas.

The newly-appointed Ukrainian Ambassador to Serbia and the National Assembly Speaker agreed in the estimate that furthering the cooperation between the two parliaments is of the highest importance for Serbia and Ukraine’s active engagement on the road to European integration. They stressed that parliamentary diplomacy was an increasingly current form of dialogue in international politics and set the basis for all levels of future cooperation between Serbia and Ukraine.

Ambassador Nedopas stressed that cooperation between Ukraine-Serbia friendship groups, as well as parliamentary committees was a good way of sharing experiences necessary for the reform process aimed at the common goal of a speedy integration into the European Union.

The National Assembly Speaker expressed her belief that parliamentary cooperation would continue in the future, adding the need to raise it to a higher level. Djukic-Dejanovic agreed with the Ambassador in the estimate that legislative activity i.e. harmonising national legislation with European legislation was a common goal and that both sides desired the cooperation between the two parliaments.
