National Assembly Speaker Receives Newly-Appointed Azerbajani Ambassador

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the Ambassador of Azerbaijan H.



The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the Ambassador of Azerbaijan H.E. Dr Eldar Hasanov after he had presented his credentials to President Tadic.

In a very cordial meeting the officials noted that parliamentary cooperation between Serbia and Azerbaijan should be improved and the Ambassador conveyed the invitation of the Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker to the NARS Speaker to visit Baku, which was accepted with great pleasure.

The Ambassador informed the Assembly Speaker that a friendship group with Serbia had been created at his country’s Parliament. He emphasised that Azerbaijan fully supports Serbia’s non-acceptance of the unilaterally declared Kosovo independence.

The Assembly Speaker thanked Azerbaijan for its principled position regarding Serbia’s territorial integrity, as well as the defense of the principle of international law before the International Court of Justice. She noted with pleasure that parliamentary and economic cooperation between the two countries should be improved, which both sides are interested in. In the process, President Tadic’s upcoming visit to Azerbaijan offers an opportunity to consider all the aspects of bilateral cooperation, including economic.
