Minister Poposki was pleased to be able to greet the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia stressing that he was aware of the excellent parliamentary cooperation between Serbia and Macedonia.

National Assembly Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, among other things, emphasised the importance of the favourable cooperation between Serbia and Macedonia, particularly between their respective parliaments which might contribute to the improvement of the two countries’ bilateral cooperation.

Recalling her meeting with the Macedonian Parliament Speaker during her visit to Skopje, the National Assembly Speaker underlined the importance of further improving the position of the Serbian ethnic minority in Macedonia. She stressed that the Macedonian authorities should make sure that Serbian cultural heritage in Macedonia is fully protected as was promised to her during her visit to Skopje. Minister Poposki informed her that the Macedonian Government is already in agreement on the matter and is taking steps to that end.

Djukic-Dejanovic stated that both Serbia and Macedonia, as secular states, should leave the open inter-church issues to the churches.

Both sides noted that the two countries’ existing parliamentary cooperation should be improved as soon as possible.
