The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the Japanese Ambassador to Serbia, Mr. Toshio Tsunozaki.
The Ambassador thanked the Government and people of Serbia for the help extended to the people of Japan in the wake of the destructive earthquake and tsunami. At the same time he stressed the exceptionally objective reporting of the Serbian public on the real events in the field considering that the world press and television spread some unobjective information on the radiation levels, which had an impact on trade and tourism between Japan and a number of countries. The Ambassador informed Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic on the current situation in the afflicted area and the Japanese Government’s post-earthquake and tsunami rehabilitation activities. He emphasised that comparing the damage on the Fukushima nuclear power plant with the consequences of the nuclear catastrophe in Chernobyl is particularly offensive. At the same time he delivered the letter of the Speaker of the Japanese Parliament’s Lower House Takahiro Yokomichi thanking the NARS Speaker for the condolences on the catastrophe that struck Japan.
Ambassador Tsunozaki conveyed the Lower House Speaker’s invitation to the NARS Speaker to visit Japan. The invitation was accepted with pleasure.
