National Assembly Speaker Receives Indian Ambassador to Serbia
National Assembly Speaker Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic received today, at the National Assembly House, the newly-appointed Indian Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Narinder Chauhan.
The meeting focused on economic, interparliamentary, cultural and educational cooperation.
The National Assembly Speaker said that Serbia and India enjoy traditionally good relations, opining that there is still room for improvement. Stefanovic stressed that economic cooperation should be intensified and follow the very good political relations, adding that Serbia is interested in strengthening parliamentary cooperation, as well as cooperation in the spheres of IT, agriculture, education and culture.
Speaking of economic cooperation, Ambassador Chauhan drew attention to the IT park project in Indjija which would, once completed, be valued at 650 million EUR making it the biggest Indian investment in the region. The Indian Ambassador also said that her country has considerable business plans for Serbia, ready to make it the regional IT sector centre.
Speaker Stefanovic thanked India for its principled position of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo-Metohija.

Speaking of deepening overall cooperation, the Ambassador said that Serbia has considerable export potential but the cooperation between the two countries needs to be improved, firstly in the sphere of economy, then at the parliamentary level and the spheres of culture and healthcare.
