National Assembly Speaker Receives Delegation of German Province of Baden-Württemberg Standing Advisory Council

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, received a delegation of the Standing Advisory Council of the Parliament of the German Province of Baden-Württemberg, headed by Brigitte Kipfer, Deputy Council President.



The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, received a delegation of the Standing Advisory Council of the Parliament of the German Province of Baden-Württemberg, headed by Brigitte Kipfer, Deputy Council President.

As a continuation of the already established cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany, a number of questions were raised at the meeting concerning both current cooperation and some new ideas aimed at furthering cooperation, as well as the support the province of Baden-Württemberg, boasting a population of ten million, gives Serbia on its way to the EU.

In order to provide a clear picture of the National Assembly’s work and current activities, Assembly Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic informed the guests on the results achieved in the legislative sphere since the constitution of the current convocation, also mentioning the next steps the NA should take on Serbia’s road to the EU.

The National Assembly Speaker stressed the importance of the full implementation of the SAA and increase of foreign investment in Serbia as a confirmation of the value system for achieving economic safety of the citizens.

The delegation members were interested in direct cooperation on the level of universities, as Assembly Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic affirmed that such cooperation exists on the individual level and should by all means be expanded.

The meeting also dealt with issues concerning granting consent to the Vojvodina Statute. Assembly Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic explained the procedure in detail saying that the Government is expected to soon forward a Bill on Competencies to the National Assembly, after which granting consent to the Vojvodina Statute should be included into the agenda.
