The Speaker of the National Assembly, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, received today the Cuban Ambassador to Serbia Julio Cesar Cancio Ferrer, at his request.
The Cuban Ambassador conveyed the Speaker of the National Assembly’s invitation to Assembly Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic to visit Cuba at the head of an assembly delegation this year. The Cuban side suggested that the two parliament speakers sign a cooperation agreement during the visit.
The National Assembly Speaker accepted the invitation to visit Cuba with pleasure, deeming the signing of an interparliamentary cooperation agreement useful, as it would establish the principles of a more intensive and better coordinated cooperation of the two parliaments in future.
Serbiaand Cuba share traditionally friendly relations and mutual understanding manifested in the support they lend one another in interparliamentary organisations and institutions. Therefore, the intensification of interparliamentary cooperation should help strengthen and widen overall cooperation, and primarily economic cooperation through the increase of the volume of trade and cooperation of the two economies, Assembly Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic emphasised.
