National Assembly Speaker Meets with Presidents of Serbian Diabetes Federation and Association

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with the President of the Diabetes Federation of Serbia Prof. Dr Nebojsa Lalic and the President of the Diabetes Association of Serbia Aleksandar Opacic.

Prof. Dr Nebojsa Lalic informed the National Assembly Speaker about the problems people with diabetes are faced with and the need to raise public awareness on the rapidly spreading condition and the serious consequences it can have if not recognised and treated adequately on time. Diabetes is one of the most widespread health issues in the world. Over 770,000 people in Serbia are affected by it which is why the symbolically named “770,000” health campaign was launched on World Diabetes Day. The campaign was launched by the Diabetes Association of Serbia with the aim to raise public awareness on the improved quality and availability of protection against diabetes for a very high number of people in Serbia, said the President of the Diabetes Association of Serbia.

National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic said he was ready and open for cooperation with representatives of the Diabetes Federation of Serbia and Diabetes Association of Serbia. On the occasion, the President of the Diabetes Association of Serbia presented National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic with an honorary membership card.
