National Assembly Speaker Meets with PACE Pre-Observation Mission Delegation
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe pre-observation mission, in official visit to the Republic of Serbia.
The National Assembly Speaker expressed readiness and openness for cooperation with the representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in all the stages of the election process. He reminded the guests that, in accordance with regular practice, the National Assembly had sent invitations to all interested international organisations to send observation missions to monitor the election process in Serbia. Ivica Dacic went on to brief the members of the mission with the inter-party dialogue, in which he was a co-facilitator together with the representatives of the European Parliament, as well as the results achieved to improve the election process.
The five-member mission, comprised of representatives of different political options from Poland, Germany, Austria, France and Italy, said that this was the first visit to Serbia in the election process organised with the aim to learn about the situation on the ground, adding that on the day of the elections about twenty PACE observers would be in Serbia. The members of the mission informed the National Assembly Speaker that in the course of the visit they had meetings with representatives of the political parties, as well as with representatives of the media and civil sector. During the meeting, the officials exchanged opinions on the current situation in the world and its impact on the electoral processes in Serbia.
The meeting was also attended by members of the Republic of Serbia’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
