National Assembly Speaker Meets with OSCE Secretary General
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid.
Secretary General Helga Schmid thanked Serbia for its continuous support of the Organisation’s work. She highlighted the partnership and good cooperation between the OSCE Mission in Belgrade and the Serbian authorities, stressing that the OSCE strives to adapt its activities to the needs of the host country and to help and support the reform processes in the best way possible.
Speaking of the OSCE’s neutral status on the Kosovo-Metohija issue, which the National Assembly Speaker brought up, Helga Schmid underlined that as the Organisation’s Secretary General she can guarantee that there would be no deviations from this principle.
Responding to Helga Schmid’s inquiries, the National Assembly Speaker informed the Secretary General about the activities of the National Assembly, with special focus to the ongoing constitutional reform process. The officials also discussed the inter-party dialogue and upcoming elections in 2022. The National Assembly Speaker reminded the guest that Serbia is working on fulfilling the ODIHR’s recommendations for the improvement of election conditions.
