The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, met today with the Director of the Conflict Prevention Centre of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Catherine Fearon, with whom she discussed the ongoing reforms in Serbia and the importance of civil society.
The National Assembly Speaker stressed that Serbia's foreign policy goal is membership in the European Union and further progress on that path, and expressed hope that Serbia will open Cluster 3 by the end of the year.
The Director of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre, Catherine Fearon, welcomed Speaker Brnabic's engagement in reform processes, such as the election of members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media, and offered the organisation’s further support on the path of reform.
Speaker Brnabic said that previously, as Prime Minister, she had good communication and cooperation with the civil sector and non-governmental organisations, and added that last week's joint meetings of the civil sector and the Culture and Information Committee, which she also attended, were a good example. She emphasised that in a democratic society, the civil sector definitely has its duties, especially in reform processes that require inclusiveness.
