National Assembly Speaker Meets with Israeli Ambassador

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic met today with the Ambassador of the State of Israel Yahel Vilan.

The Ambassador informed Speaker Orlic in detail about the situation in Israel, which, he added, he had also discussed with the National Assembly’s Parliamentary Friendship Group with Israel.

Ambassador Vilan stressed that respecting public international law is of the utmost importance for Israel and emphasised that his country "is not in conflict with the Palestinian people, but with the terrorist organisation Hamas and its ideology."
In the course of the conversation, Dr Orlic thanked the guest for all the information presented from the Ambassador's perspective, saying that Serbia advocates for peaceful solutions. "We always want peace for everyone as much as for ourselves and our people, we call for respect for the resolutions of the UN Security Council and agreements reached. What we ask for our people, without exception, we respect and represent when it comes to others," said Dr Orlic.

The two officials jointly praised the engagement of the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and the Government of Serbia on the evacuation of not only Serbian citizens, but people from the entire region.
