National Assembly Speaker Meets with Inter-Parliamentary Union President

At the margins of the 127th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, in Quebec, NARS Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic met with the President of the oldest international parliamentary organisation, Abdelwahad Radi.

Speaker Stefanovic thanked Mr. Radi for meeting him, reminding him that Serbia endorsed his election for IPU President and deemed that the organisation’s role and prestige have risen significantly during his presidency. Stefanovic added that cooperation between parliaments within the organisation is significant, sharing Serbia’s readiness to take a more active part in the work of the IPU’s working bodies. The National Assembly Speaker added that the IPU can always count on the Serbian Parliament, which in turn expects a significant exchange of experiences as part of its cooperation with the IPU, as well as assistance necessary for the further development of parliamentarism in Serbia.
IPU President Radi thanked Stefanovic for his assessment, adding that the IPU is also Serbian because Serbia’s Parliament is part of the organisation’s big family. Radi said that the organisation could also gain new knowledge and experience on one of its members through the open cooperation and assistance the IPU could offer Serbia.
