National Assembly Speaker Meets with Hungarian President

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic met today, in Budapest, with Hungarian President János Áder.


The meeting focused on the two countries’ overall relations, European integration and regional and economic cooperation.

The officials agreed that the two countries’ economic cooperation is good and that there is room for improvement, especially in the sphere of investment. They also stressed that there are plans for further Hungarian investment into small and medium-sized enterprises, infrastructure, energy, agriculture and tourism.

In the course of the meeting, János Áder said that Hungary would offer Serbia full support in the Euro-integration process.

The officials agreed what specific areas of the Euro-integration process Hungary could assist Serbia with, viz.: development and improvement of judiciary professions, notaries public and executors, strategic planning and preparation of IPA and other projects in the sphere of the judiciary and combating organised crime and corruption in the negotiations process with the European Union and everything else the Serbian side shows interest in.

In the course of the visit to Hungary the National Assembly Speaker will be taking part in the Euro-Atlantic Conference of Parliament Speakers of Western Balkan Countries and will meet with the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament László Kövér, Hungarian Foreign Minister János Martonyi, the leader of the Fidesz parliamentary group at the Hungarian Parliament Antal Rogán, and representatives of the diaspora in Hungary.
