National Assembly Speaker Meets with German Bundestag Member
National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic met today with German Bundestag member Andreas Sсhockenhoff, currently in visit to Serbia.
Sсhockenhoff highlighted the importance of the role the parliament plays in European integration, underlining the significance of interparliamentary cooperation, especially within reform processes.
Sсhockenhoff said that the representatives of the Bundestag, which plays a significant role in the enlargement of the European Union, were visiting Serbia so as to demonstrate that cooperation was important not only before crucial decisions, but throughout the entire Euro-integration process as well.
Gojkovic said that the Parliament would be very busy over the summer when it was planned to pass reform laws, adding that the National Assembly was ready to follow the pace of the Serbian Government.
She is quite pleased by the intensive high-level contacts between the two countries and stressed the importance of interparliamentary cooperation.
The meeting was also attended by CDU/CSU parliamentary group foreign policy advisor Hans Joachim Falenski, Director of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Serbia Henri Bohnet and the Head of the Serbian Progressive Party Parliamentary Group Zoran Babic.
