Gojkovic said she hoped that during his visit Rapporteur McAllister will gain further insight into Serbia’s progress on the EU path and that the European institutions would recognize the gravity of the political moment in Serbia and its dedication to Euro-integration.
Gojkovic emphasised the significant role the National Assembly plays in the accession process, adding that the parliament’s role is active and meaningful.
McAllister said that the opening of the negotiations chapters this year would be a positive signal for Serbia which, he added, has achieved progress.
He said that the National Assembly’s consensus as regards Serbia’s EU membership is very important for the Euro-integration process.
The meeting was attended by the Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Michael Davenport. After the meeting with Speaker Gojkovic, McAllister will also meet with the members of the European Integration Committee and the heads of the parliamentary groups at the National Assembly.
