National Assembly Speaker Meets with European Commission’s Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations Director General
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, met today with Director General of the European Commission’s Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations Gert Jan Koopman.
The Speaker expressed her pleasure at seeing Koopman in Belgrade, stressing that his support for Serbia's concrete steps on its path towards the European Union is of exceptional importance.
Brnabic and Koopman agreed that it is crucial for Serbia to open Cluster 3 by the end of this year, while the Parliament Speaker emphasised that the possible failure to open Cluster 3 would have an extremely negative impact on our country's European integration.
The officials discussed the election of members of the new Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) as well as the draft amendment to the Law on the Unified Electoral Roll.
Speaker Brnabic and Mr Koopman also discussed the current geopolitical situation in Europe and the world and agreed that preserving peace and stability is of key importance for the further development not only of Serbia, but of the entire region.
The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic Serbia, Andreas von Beckerath.
