National Assembly Speaker Meets with EP member and Rapporteur for Serbia

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the member of the European Parliament and EP Rapporteur for Serbia Vladimir Bilcik.

Brnabic once again thanked Bilcik for his dedicated work and open and constructive attitude towards Serbia during his mandate as the EP Rapporteur for our country.

Brnabic said that EU membership is Serbia's strategic foreign policy, that this is the best path for our country and a guarantee for the growth of the living standards of all our citizens.

Bilcik congratulated Brnabic on her commitment and effort to establish dialogue with all parliamentary parties, which he said, is an extraordinary feat. He noted that the political atmosphere is significantly different than before, with much less tension, which he considers great news.

The National Assembly Speaker said that she will continue to follow this path and throughout her term of office will advocate for the reduction of tensions in society and the establishment of a continuous dialogue between the parties of the ruling coalition and the opposition parties.

Brnabic and Bilcik also discussed the upcoming elections for the European Parliament, which will be held on Sunday. The Parliament Speaker expressed hope that the new composition of the European Commission will advocate the policy of EU enlargement, so that all of Serbia’s reforms will result in our country's ultimate goal which is EU membership.
