National Assembly Speaker Meets with Congolese President

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, met today with the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, currently in official visit to our country.

The Speaker stressed that a regular exchange of high-level visits is of great importance for the improvement of overall bilateral relations and better mutual understanding. She particularly thanked the Democratic Republic of Congo for its principled stance and support for the Republic of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty of the.

She also noted that in Serbia, 25 May has been declared the Day of Friendship with the Peoples of Africa, emphasising the country’s commitment to developing relations and cooperation with African countries. She pointed out that the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia is the only European parliament to have concluded a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pan-African Parliament.

The official expressed willingness to develop parliamentary cooperation, confident in their belief that this would contribute to the strengthening of bilateral relations.

The meeting was also attended by the National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Democratic Republic of Congo, Prof. Dr Jovan Janjic.
