The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Serbia Chen Botoday.
In the course of the meeting, the officials discussed the current Serbian-Chinese relations, as well as the activities in the field of parliamentary cooperation planned for the next period.
Among other things, they also spoke about the upcoming video meeting between National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic and the Chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress Li Zhanshu planned for 22 June. They agreed that this meeting will be an excellent opportunity to discuss topics crucial for the development of overall bilateral and parliamentary relations, as well as the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and joint activities aimed at economic recovery after it.
Ambassador Chen Bo was sincerely grateful for the consistent commitment to the development of a comprehensive strategic partnership, adding that any result of the relations between China and Serbia, partly belongs to the people's MPs. She said that the relations between China and Serbia have stood the test of the pandemic and are successfully continuing to develop.
National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic once again thanked the People's Republic of China for supporting Serbian interests in international organisations, which China provided yesterday at the UN Security Council session dedicated to the work of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunal.
Ivica Dacic also took the opportunity to present Ambassador Chen Bo with a letter of congratulations for the President of the People's Republic of China and Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping on the party's 100th anniversary.
