National Assembly Speaker Meets with CPPCC Politburo Member and Beijing Municipal Committee Secretary

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the member of Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee Yin Li.

The Speaker greeted Li, saying that visits of Chinese high officials are always welcome for the deepening of cooperation between Serbia and the People’s Republic of China. She also stressed what a great pleasure and honour it had been for President Vucic and the Republic of Serbia to once again have the opportunity to host president Xi Jinping, adding that the visit had resulted in numerous important agreements.

The officials agreed that the two countries have recognised that areas and views of future cooperation are in full agreement and that they are proud of the exceptional relations, strategic partnership and extremely good quality of intensive political dialogue at all levels. Also they stressed that future cooperation in science, innovative creativity, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, agriculture and the like, would additionally strengthen the steely ties between our two countries.

Li said that the People’s Republic of China pays special attention to our country and strengthening of all types of cooperation to the benefit of both nations, especially as Belgrade and Beijing have been twinned for 44 years now, adding that this twinning was the first one for Beijing with a European city. He also said that the People’s Republic of China stands ready to assist Serbia in the preparation of EXPO 27 specialised exhibition.

Brnabic was especially grateful to friendly China for its support in taking a coordinated stance in international organisations which is especially important in this moment when Serbia is faced with a variety of pressures and challenges.

The officials agreed that the parliamentary cooperation is very good and that the participation of the Serbian delegation headed by the Parliament Speaker and the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee Marina Ragus, which is to co-chair the Fourth Meeting of the Serbia-China Cooperation Commission in June, would affirm the role and importance of our two countries’ parliamentary cooperation.
