National Assembly Speaker Meets with Armenian Dignitaries

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic is currently in an official two-day visit to Armenia, at the invitation of Armenian Parliament Speaker Galust Sahakyan.

As part of her visit, besides the Parliament Speaker, Gojkovic met today with the President, Serzh Sargsyan, and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian. In the meetings, the officials highlighted the significant potentials for the development of relations between the two countries.

The two parliament speakers, Gojkovic and Sahakyan, emphasised the significance of the visit since it is the first at the highest parliamentary level in the history of relations between Serbia and Armenia.

Gojkovic thanked Armenia for its principled stance of Kosovo-Metohija and for voting against Kosovo-Metohija’s UNESCO bid.

The officials were particularly interested in improving the relationship between Serbia and Armenia through the cooperation between the two parliaments, as well as through economic and cultural cooperation.

On the second day of her visit to Armenia Gojkovic will be meeting with Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and His Holiness Catholicos Karekin II.

The Head of the Serbia-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group Aleksandar Cotric is also part of the National Assembly delegation.
