National Assembly Speaker Meets with Ambassador of Angola to Serbia
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic met today with the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to the Republic of Serbia H.E. Emílio Miguel de Carvalho Sobrinho.
Speaking of the long friendship between our two countries, Dr Orlic expressed satisfaction that our country was among the first to offer significant support to the people of Angola in their fight for freedom and independence.
The National Assembly Speaker thanked Angola for its principled stance and support for Serbia’s territorial integrity, adding that, by its decision not to recognise so-called “Kosovo”, it not only confirmed its friendship, but also stood together with Serbia in defence of international law and peace.
"You saw this on the example of yesterday’s meeting in Brussels. It was confirmed that the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and official Belgrade are the most important factor in preserving peace and stability in the region. Sincerely dedicated to dialogue, ready to speak the language of compromise, as well as act responsibly and with principles. On the other hand, it was confirmed that Albin Kurti and official Pristina are the main generators of conflict, source of problems and the greatest threat to peace. The EU sees it clearly now, and many others in the world have been drawing attention to it for a long time”, said Dr Orlic, thanking Angola for seeing these problems properly and openly talking about them.
Ambassador Sobrinho confirmed the friendship between the two countries and expressed readiness to invest additional efforts into maintaining and further strengthening that relationship, through the intensification of cooperation in various fields. All potentials for the development of economic as well as interparliamentary cooperation between Serbia and Angola should be used, primarily through contacts between members of the two parliaments’ friendship groups, Dr Orlic and Sobrinho agreed.
