National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic at Opening of Humanitarian Event Open Heart Street

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic spoke at the opening ceremony of the humanitarian event for children Open Heart Street.

THE FOLLOWING IS THE SPEECH OF THE SPEAKER OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA IN ITS ENTIRETY:

"Dear children,
Dear parents,

Happy New Year 2022 and welcome to Open Heart Street. This is a place where we meet up with our friends every year on 1 January and wish each other that all our wishes come true in the new year.

May all your wishes come true and I hope you get everything you imagined.

I came here from the National Assembly, where we just distributed packages to children living in foster families and they are here with us. I would like to greet them especially because we have already spent time together and they were good enough to walk the Open Heart Street to share the joy of the arrival of the New Year with everyone here.

And as for us adults, our wishes may not be as imaginative as yours, but we also have the right to wish for something in the New Year. Our greatest wish is that all our children are happy, that they lack nothing and that they can do what they love the most.

We are here to fulfil your wishes and yours is just to dream, learn and be good friends. That is not a small or easy thing to do, you must also do your best to make your wishes come true. Be kind to your friends, help them if necessary and they will be kind to you.

Thank you for coming, enjoy Open Heart Street and we will be waiting for you here in a year. Until then, be diligent, good and prepare new wishes.
