National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic Sends Telegram of Condolences on Death of Mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandic

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic sent a telegram of condolences on the death of the Mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandic.

"My sincerest condolences on the death of Mr. Milan Bandic to his family and his admirers in Zagreb and Croatia. The long-term mayor of Zagreb will be remembered as an energetic person and an enterprising representative of the citizens.

In Serbia, we remember him as a man who was ready to cooperate not only with Belgrade, where he was a dear guest, but also with Serbia, which he saw as an important partner and neighbour with which Croatia should cultivate close ties.

With Mr. Bandic, I had the pleasure to attend the enthronement of the then Metropolitan of Zagreb and Ljubljana and today the Patriarch of Serbia, Mr. Porfirije, in Zagreb six years ago, which evokes the memory of his respect and support of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Zagreb and Croatia. With the departure of Mr. Bandic, Zagreb and Croatia lost an authentic fighter for the progress of his city and his country, as well as a man who built friendly ties in the region."
