National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic Congratulates His Holiness Newly-Elected Serbian Patriarch

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic sent congratulations to His Holiness the Archbishop of Pec, Metropolitan of Belgrade-Karlovci and Serbian Patriarch Mr Porfirije.


"Your Holiness,

On behalf of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and on my own behalf, I cordially congratulate you on your election as Serbian Patriarch, with the wish that you work long and prolifically in the name of Christ and the honour of Serbian and all Orthodox people.

During your service, you have gained respect among the faithful with your work, devoted and sincere faith, and we believe that under your leadership the throne of St. Sava will profess a strong unity among people both in Serbia and around the world.

Your wise words and deeds will guide the Orthodox Serbian nation through love and unity, giving it the strength to overcome all the challenges of the times we live in.

I extend my warmest wishes and hope that your course will be successful, following the example of your holy and pious predecessors, and to the benefit of preserving friendly love among the faithful, well-being and unity of the Serbian people."
